Shift4's Universal Transaction Gateway TM (UTG) technology allows DOLLARS ON THE NET® to control and gather data from various serial devices – PIN pads, signature capture devices, etc. – connected to your point-of-sale system.
Domestic PINned Debit
DOLLARS ON THE NET supports both online debit (PINned) and offline debit ('check
card' transactions). PINned debit is the fastest growing sector of payments
in the US. Because of the inherent security of this type of transaction,
merchants can enjoy significantly lower Discount Rates for PINned transactions.
Until now, the reason that debit cards have not been accepted at the point-of-sale
is because the programming necessary to support the PIN device was prohibitive.
DOLLARS ON THE NET, however, allows you to easily accept PINned debit regardless
of the Point-of-Sale (POS) or Property Management System (PMS).
Canadian INTERAC® PINned Debit
The acceptance of debit in Canada is critical to the success of the enterprise
because the majority of payments at the point-of-sale in Canada are debit
payments. However, the Canadian (INTERAC) debit system is different and
a lot more complex than the US system. Until now, integrated debit at the
POS/PMS in Canada was just a dream. With Shift4's DOLLARS ON THE NET,
POS/PMS systems all over Canada are able to accept debit transactions
with no more difficulty than accepting payments in the US. Once a vendor
has a certified US debit interface to Shift4, they have a certified Canadian
interface as well.
Check Verification
DOLLARS ON THE NET supports electronic check verification. DOLLARS ON THE NET serves
as the gateway between the merchant and their check service or processor,
such as TeleCheck, Certegy, NCN or Vital. Merchants enter the customer's
check information and DOLLARS ON THE NET sends it directly to the processor.
Once the service verifies the check, DOLLARS ON THE NET passes the verification
to the merchant. The merchant can then confidently accept the check, knowing
that their check service has verified the check and guaranteed the funds.
Signature Capture
DOLLARS ON THE NET supports electronic signature capture without the need for
extensive programming at the point-of-sale. Shift4 does all the work, including
controlling the signature pad and transferring the signature in the proper
format to DOLLARS ON THE NET for archiving and retrieval. For domestic debit,
DOLLARS ON THE NET supports a combination device that can be both a PIN pad
and signature capture device.
